"As a 2018 grad of Penn College and an adult learner, I experienced the many opportunities Penn College provided to make my education possible. Giving back to our community became a significant goal and there are many ways to network through the college with our amazing community."

Q&A with Central PA Food Bank
HOW DID YOUR COMPANY FIRST CONNECT WITH PENN COLLEGE?
Penn College students and staff have been volunteering their time with CPFB for years. We rely on volunteers to fulfill our vision that no one should be hungry. Each year thousands of volunteers (working individually and as part of group efforts) donate tens of thousands of hours of their time to help their neighbors in need. In addition to volunteering, Penn College invited CPFB to host a poverty simulation during their 2023 MLK Dream Week.
WHAT QUALITIES OF PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS MAKE THEM STAND OUT FOR YOUR OPERATIONS?
We are looking for people looking to join a collaborative, values-driven, dynamic team that derives joy from the work and is passionate about resourcing the work to end hunger and its root causes. We hold the core belief that philanthropy should be accessible to all facets of our community and define our work as the art of facilitating love of community.
The Food Bank’s work culture is progressive, forward thinking, and equity minded. Staff have the opportunity to fully develop their potential in a variety of ways. As organizational leaders, in shaping programs and advocacy efforts and in working towards a future where no one should be hungry.
WHAT PROFESSIONAL ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE PENN COLLEGE STUDENTS TO BEST PREPARE THEM TO JOIN YOUR TEAM?
If you are nonprofit minded, and looking to join a worthy cause that impacts our local communities in a tangible way, then the Central PA Food Bank may be the place for you!
