Complete the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by going to studentaid.gov.

  • A finalized FAFSA determines your eligibility for a Federal Pell Grant and is required for Federal Direct Loan borrowers/recipients.
  • You need your FSA ID to log into the FAFSA as a student contributor. If you don’t have an FSA ID, you’ll be prompted to create one as you log in.
  • When completing the 2025-26 FAFSA, you will need to give your consent and approval for several steps, including permission for the U.S. Department of Education to access federal tax information. Most federal taxpayers who give consent and approval will not need to manually enter your income and tax information from your 2023 IRS Tax Return.
  • You are required to sign your FAFSA (1) before submitting or, depending on your personal circumstances, before inviting your parent(s) or your spouse to contribute to your FAFSA.
  • If you are a ‘dependent student’ your parent(s) will also need to contribute their information, give their consent and approval, and sign your FAFSA.

Upon submission of your FAFSA, the amounts of federal aid that display are only estimates.

You will also need to complete a 2026-27 FAFSA before March 1, 2026. The 2026-27 FAFSA is based on 2024 tax year income.

If needed, apply for a Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized (Student) or a Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan (for Parents of Dependent students)

Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan

Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan

Parents are not obligated to apply for a PLUS loan. If they choose to do so and are approved, they are the legal borrower and are required to repay the loan.

A Private Alternative Loan is also a possibility. For more information, please visit our Private Alternative Loan webpage.
