The storied season and career for Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestler Noah Hunt came to a close on Friday in the NCAA Division III Championships, and now the athletic focus turns fully from winter to spring sports.

What once was a drab storage area in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Field House is now a functional team room for Wildcat athletics, thanks to staff from General Services. Carpenters, electricians, painters and plumbers transformed the space, which consisted of concrete walls and flooring with minimal lighting, into a crisp, clean room benefiting student athletes.

When Noah Hunt of Muncy steps on the mat on Friday to represent the Pennsylvania College of Technology, he will be one of 210 NCAA Division III wrestlers from across the country and, more importantly, one of 21 competing in the 141-pound weight class seeking a national championship.

The Penn College men's tennis team opens at home at the Central PA Tennis Center at 2 p.m. on Saturday, hosting Penn State Altoona. The women's team starts on Friday, March 21, hosting King’s College, also at the South Williamsport indoor facility. United East Conference play begins on March 29 for both teams.

The United East Conference distributed postseason awards this past week, and four Pennsylvania College of Technology basketball players were among the recipients. Three other Wildcats also picked up UE weekly honors.

Pennsylvania College of Technology senior Noah Hunt of Muncy became the second Wildcat wrestler in program history to advance to the NCAA Division III Championship after his third-place finish Sunday in the NCAA Division III Region 2 Championship at Lycoming College. In team competition, Penn College was 10th of 19, its best regional finish to date.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology wrestling team takes six ranked matmen into this weekend’s NCAA Division III Region 2 Championship at Lycoming College. Matches begin at 10 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

Coming off the first back-to-back 30-win seasons in program history and being the defending United East Conference champion, the standard is high for the Pennsylvania College of Technology softball team. The Wildcats open their season at noon on Friday hosting first-time opponent Juniata College at the Lycoming Valley Intermediate School field.

Going into the United East playoffs, Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball coach Geoff Hensley thought his last-seeded but battle-tested team might be in a position for something special. He was right. The Wildcats, who had lost five games in a row to close out the regular season, scored back-to-back upset wins this past week to reach Tuesday’s semifinal, where they will face top-seeded Bryn Athyn at 7 p.m.
