WNEP-TV visited Penn College on Wednesday to produce a story for the ABC affiliate on the Spring Career Fair. Journalist Mackenzie Auker interviewed Loni N. Kline, senior vice president for college relations, employer representatives and students at the two-day event, which attracted more than 400 employers offering thousands of job and internship opportunities.

Among activities held on Pennsylvania College of Technology’s campus to honor February as Black History Month were “Hidden Heroes: An Open Mic Night” and “The Juke Joint.” The gatherings aimed to enlighten students on the rich facets of African American history and connect them in a community of inclusion and diversity.

Penn College will have four wrestlers ranked among the top eight in their respective weight classes when the action gets underway at 10 a.m. Friday in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships hosted by RIT in Rochester, New York. The tournament concludes on Saturday.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student and staff member are playing key roles in the second annual Night of Empowerment, to be held 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 29, in the Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Individuals seeking to enhance their careers, relationships or personal well-being are encouraged to pre-register to attend.

Player development. That is what Pennsylvania College of Technology baseball has been all about under coach Chris Howard, a former professional himself, and the results speak for themselves. And so the process begins again, with the season opener on Sunday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, against Hilbert College.

Even a few robins were spotted on campus as Pennsylvania College of Technology opened its doors to a flock of guests for the first Open House of Spring 2024, held Saturday. In another busy week, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men’s basketball team closed out its season while its wrestling, men’s lacrosse, archery, and esports teams saw action — and a new women’s volleyball coach was named. Highlighting this week’s schedule, wrestlers will compete Friday and Saturday in the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship at Rochester, New York, while the baseball team is scheduled to open on Thursday at Elmira College.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is the recipient of a nearly $1.5 million federal grant to support students majoring in a transportation-related field. The National Science Foundation awarded $1,498,465 (grant No. 2221107) as part of its S-STEM program, which funds scholarships for academically talented low-income students.

Following a SEDA-Council of Governments hearing yesterday in the Thompson Professional Development Center on the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, participants visited the college’s EV lab in the Parkes Automotive Technology Center. Automotive technology faculty members Christopher J. Holley and Charles F. Probst described the opportunities and challenges presented by EVs with the group.

A new fitness area is available to Pennsylvania College of Technology students – the Flexible Space. Located in the Fitness Center on the third floor of Bush Campus Center, the Flexible Space is a separate room for doing sit-ups, stretches or light weightlifting. A recent grand opening drew more than 65 attendees and a round of applause.
