The Automated Manufacturing, Welding & Metal Fabrication Recruitment Day drew 24 employers and 111 students to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s welding lab on Wednesday. The expansive space, believed to be the largest welding facility in higher education nationwide, buzzed with connection.
State Education Secretary Khalid N. Mumin visited Pennsylvania College of Technology on Thursday, receiving a tour of the impressive facilities and gaining a firsthand look at the institution’s innovative and effective approach to preparing the next generation of tomorrow makers.
Anderson Equipment Co.’s 24-week loan of a Komatsu PC 290LC-11 to Pennsylvania College of Technology will be greatly advantageous to students in 10 diesel and heavy construction equipment courses – from powertrain and hydraulics to brakes and electronics. A Corporate Tomorrow Maker that has supported Penn College students for about 25 years, the company is providing the excavator through an ongoing entrustment agreement that enhances instruction at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center.
A trio of collision repair technology graduates from 2006 recently returned to campus to address students in the Collision Repair Operations class taught by Eric D. Pruden, instructor of automotive technology. Ryan M. Arnold, Lanessa (Satteson) Taylor and Gilberto Alicea “shared their experiences in the collision repair industry and encouraged the students to find their place in the industry,” according to Pruden.
Two Pennsylvania College of Technology welding students and their faculty member were among those traveling to Harrisburg in support of Penn State’s Capital Day on Monday. Capital Day, the single-largest day of advocacy, offers Penn Staters the opportunity to use their voices to speak up in support of the university’s state funding and highlight Penn State’s positive impact on the commonwealth.
In the coming weeks, Pennsylvania College of Technology culinary arts students will practice kitchen management skills as they serve a series of dinners featuring American regional cuisine in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. Served Wednesdays, March 20 to April 24, each week’s menu features signature cuisine from a different corner of the U.S. – from New Orleans’ Cajun and Creole flavors to New England’s famous seafood.
On a day celebrating luck and blessings (St. Patrick’s Day), the annual Scholarship Luncheon applauded the generous support and inspiration provided through philanthropy to Pennsylvania College of Technology students. Nearly 300 donors, students and their guests attended the gathering, held in the college’s Field House.

Pennsylvania College of Technology dental hygiene students recently provided oral hygiene instruction and information to clients of White Deer Run of Allenwood, an addiction rehabilitation center. Sponsored by the Penn College Student American Dental Hygienists’ Association, six students spent a day at the center.
