The dean's list for the Fall 2005 semester at Penn College has been announced. Jessica A. Ackley, Early Childhood Education, Sunbury Joshua A. Students from the early childhood education major at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently attended the National Association for the Education of Young Children conference in Washington, D.C. One of the students, Darian B. Buxton, of Jersey Shore, was invited to speak at a town meeting on issues related to on-campus student early childhood education clubs.

Douglas B. Martin, a student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has received the John A. Savoy Scholarship for Electronics Applications for the 2005-06 academic year. The scholarship is awarded each fall to a second-year student in an electronics major that emphasizes laser optics or fiber optics. The recipient is chosen based on scholastic achievement, dedication and leadership.

School of Hospitality students from Pennsylvania College of Technology will travel to the Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg on Jan. 8 to participate in several cooking demonstrations on the complex's main floor. In addition to performing cooking demonstrations at 2 and 5 p.m. with faculty members Michael J. Ditchfield, Paul E. Mach and Charles R.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has presented student achievement awards to its December 2005 graduates. The award winners − and their addresses and academic majors − are: President's Award, for leadership and service to the college: Ryan K. Zimmerman, South Williamsport, computer information technology-data communications and networking.

A few members of David R. Cotner's afternoon WEL116 Shielded Metal Arc Welding II class had an opportunity recently to design and develop a "Dutch Oven Table" to be used for cookouts during camping trips for a local Boy Scout troop, with the primary focus of the table directed toward the Scouts' "Leave No Trace" principle.

Pennsylvania College of Technology student Kathryn L. Hildenberger has been awarded the David Pickelner Memorial Scholarship for 2005-06. Hildenberger, of Kensington, Md., is a junior in the college's electronics engineering technology bachelor-degree major.

Pennsylvania College of Technology student Richard L. Carpenter has been awarded the Bracalente Manufacturing Scholarship for 2005-06. Carpenter, of Ulysses, is pursuing an associate degree in toolmaking technology and has been named to the dean's list at Penn College several times.

The Financial Aid Office at Pennsylvania College of Technology and Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency recently announced that the Armed Forces Loan Forgiveness Program has been extended to include men and women who served in the armed forces in active-duty status between Sept. 11, 2001, and June 30, 2006. The application deadline has been extended until Dec. 31, 2006.

Matthew S. Clouser and Shaun R. Bentz, both civil engineering technology students at Pennsylvania College of Technology, have earned scholarships from American Infrastructure Inc., a Worcester-based heavy-construction firm. In addition to a bachelor's degree in civil engineering technology, Clouser, of RR 1 East Waterford, is pursuing an associate degree in surveying technology.
