An organization dedicated to women in the collision repair industry has awarded a scholarship to a Pennsylvania College of Technology student. Izzy S. Povod, of Palm Coast, Florida, was one of 30 individuals nationwide honored with a Women’s Industry Network Student Tuition and Conference Scholarship Award. A Dean’s List student, Povod received $2,500 toward tuition and a $500 tool grant.

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology physician assistant studies students feel inspired and grateful following a recent clinical education rotation in Peru. Erin T. Braxton, of Berwyn, Catherine Coy, of Clifton Park, New York, spent five weeks in Trujillo, one of Peru’s largest cities. They completed their elective clinical rotation at Florencia de Mora hospital, with Braxton focusing on obstetrics and gynecology and Coy on pediatrics.

The “Engagies” were announced at the Student Leadership & Involvement Awards, a cherished tradition among the end-of-academic-year festivities at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Hosted by the Office of Student Engagement, the gathering honored student leaders, their mentors and the student organizations who make an impressive and positive impact on campus and in the community.

As part of the spring semester’s finale events, Penn College hosted an Excellence in Student Leadership and Service Awards Ceremony to honor 11 graduating students who distinguished themselves by their high academic achievement, quality leadership and exemplary service.

For the ninth year, Penn College has received notification of its Tree Campus Higher Education designation, and students celebrated by planting trees (Japanese snowbell and Snow Fountain weeping cherry) at the college's Schneebeli Earth Science Center in honor of Arbor Day.

Penn College freshman softball player Grace Lorson has been named a finalist for the Tucci/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Freshman of Year. The award annually honors the outstanding athletic achievement of freshmen in NCAA Division III.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students reaped the benefits of their hands-on education and tireless dedication by finishing fourth out of 89 cars in the Baja SAE Williamsport endurance race, the international competition’s premier event. Overall, the team placed 10th out of the 102 teams competing. Those teams consisted of about 1,800 students representing colleges and universities from throughout the United States, Canada and Brazil.

A new “ingredient” was added to the brewing & fermentation science capstone with the addition of an informal tasting session in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant and the major’s lab, both located in the Hager Lifelong Education Center at Penn College. The gathering was attended by the graduating students’ families and friends, industry professionals, brewing alumni, and college employees.

A leading national provider of building technology and energy solutions is investing in students at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Climatec LLC has established a $2,000 annual scholarship that will give students the opportunity to begin or advance their education in building technologies. A Corporate Tomorrow Maker, Climatec is the largest privately owned building technologies provider in the nation.
