Qiang Cao, assistant professor of radiography for Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently passed the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists exam to become certified and registered in MRI. Cao, a registered radiologic technologist, also holds credentials in computed tomography and plans to become certified as a magnetic resonance safety officer.

Georgia T. Grey, clinical director for Pennsylvania College of Technology’s radiography program, recently earned a Master of Education in higher education from Penn State. Grey, a registered radiologic technologist, joined the Penn College radiography program as a clinical supervisor in 2015. She is also the radiation safety officer for the college.

Pennsylvania College of Technology students achieved second- and fourth-place honors in the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists’ Association’s “informative posters” event for college students. Juggling full-time college classes by day and full-time emergency medical technician work by night, Brooke M. Strubel is earning her Bachelor of Science degree in emergency management and homeland security in just two and a half years.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology student is one of 75 undergraduates nationwide to receive a scholarship from the Recycling Education and Research Foundation. Emily L. Stevens, of Springville, received a $1,000 scholarship funded by the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries.

Donnamarie Lovestrand, assistant professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, received the Pennsylvania Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses’ 2020 Patient Advocate Award. The award was presented during the association’s Annual Education Conference, held virtually Oct. 6.

Four members of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s nursing faculty recently received doctoral degrees. Dianne M. Eberle Dianne M. Eberle, associate professor of nursing, received a doctorate in education from Capella University, where she graduated with distinction. Her dissertation explored student perceptions of academic dishonesty and clinical integrity.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s nursing program will consider SAT and ACT scores in lieu of a Test of Essential Academic Skills score as part of the criteria for high school students to be directly admitted into its practical nursing and associate and bachelor’s degree nursing majors.
