The trailer for the “Clash of Trades: Welding League Edition” has been released, promoting the episode’s upcoming premiere. Project MFG’s National Welding League Championship was held in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s 55,000-square-foot welding facility in June, bringing to campus some of the best high school and trade school student-welders in the nation.

The August 2024 issue of Avionics News features an article on Pennsylvania College of Technology alumna and Air Force veteran Alicia “Marti” Martinez. Titled “Taking an Active Role in Learning,” the profile was written by retired aviation faculty member Thomas D. Inman and showcases Martinez’s enthusiasm for her academics and extracurricular activities.

Christopher J. Holley, associate professor of automotive technology, recently contributed a story to the online publication Mopar Connection Magazine. His piece examines how Chrysler’s “Forward Look” cars – vehicles characterized by a futuristic, streamlined appearance – in the mid to late 1950s shaped the auto industry in the latter half of the century.

Eight individuals, including a Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus, are among the latest graduates of the National Hardwood Lumber Association’s Inspector Training School. The association held its eight-week course at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center this summer, culminating in a graduation ceremony on Friday that featured an address by state Secretary of Agriculture Russell E. Redding.

The National Hardwood Lumber Association celebrated the 206th graduating class of its Inspector Training School on Friday at Penn College’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center. The eight-week course – usually offered in Tennessee – took place for the first time in Penn College’s facilities. Among those addressing the graduates were Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture Russell E. Redding, NHLA Executive Director Dallin Brooks and Penn College President Michael J. Reed.

Thirty high school students discovered career possibilities connected to science, technology, engineering and math during the recent hands-on Tinker Camp at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Supported by grants from Nuts, Bolts & Thingamajigs, the Gene Haas Foundation and EQT Corp., the three-day camp introduced students to engineering design, manufacturing, polymer engineering, 3D printing and welding.

Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su and Director of the Domestic Policy Counsel/White House Domestic Policy Advisor Neera Tanden took a few moments to answer questions following their July 11, 2024, announcement event at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The officials announced nationwide grant funding for apprenticeship initiatives totaling $244 million. Penn College is the recipient of a $4 million grant to expand its existing apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship programs.

A $4 million federal grant will empower Pennsylvania College of Technology to continue serving as a key provider of apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training programs statewide and beyond in response to employer demand for more workers in advanced manufacturing. The Apprenticeship Building America grant was announced today during a U.S. Department of Labor event with remarks delivered by Julie Su, acting secretary of labor, and Neera Tanden, White House domestic policy advisor.

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation’s 38th Annual Golf Classic raised $120,000 recently for student scholarships. Including this year’s fundraising effort, the Penn College Foundation Golf Classic Scholarship Fund now exceeds $2.2 million. Proceeds from the Golf Classic – along with accumulated investment income – created the endowed scholarship fund, one of the foundation’s largest.
