Penn College News has received word of the death of Laura M. Dickinson, associate professor of English-composition at Pennsylvania College of Technology, who died April 18 at the age of 61.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of WEDnetPA, a three-day annual gathering is being held in Williamsport that included a visit on Tuesday to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s campus. Penn College serves as the statewide administrator of the program, currently housed in the college’s Workforce Development division. Among those in attendance was Pennsylvania Department of Community & Economic Development Secretary Rick Siger and other DCED staff.

The second annual Wildcat Rotorfest, held recently at Pennsylvania College of Technology by the emergency management & homeland security major, doubled in attendance and participants. The interactive career exploration day was attended by nearly 500 K-12 students from 23 schools across the state.

Five collision repair technology graduates from 2012 offered career insights to today’s students during a recent visit to the Collision Repair Operations class taught by Eric. D. Pruden, instructor of automotive technology. John Brungard, Derek Finkenbinder, Patrick McTague, Jacob Wood and Chad Zepp shared their career paths with the students.

As the famed Kentucky Derby celebrates its 150th running on May 4, Pennsylvania College of Technology students and employees will be in action, providing gourmet dining to VIP spectators. Twenty-six Penn College students were selected for Derby Week internships following on-campus interviews by staff of Levy Restaurants, which operates dining services at Churchill Downs (the Kentucky Derby’s home).

Kenworth of Pennsylvania has donated a Paccar MX 13 engine to Pennsylvania College of Technology. The equipment is the first MX engine introduced into the college’s diesel technology labs, stirring enthusiasm from students and faculty. The donation will give students real-world experience in diagnosing and repairing Paccar engines.

A dedicated group from Pennsylvania College of Technology posted a strong showing at the 2024 Toyota Green Grand Prix in Watkins Glen, New York. The contingent – consisting of 10 students from the Penn College Motorsports Association and two faculty members – earned several awards at the recent event, held at the Watkins Glen International race course.

Over 1,300 visitors strolled around Pennsylvania College of Technology's campus on Sunday, taking in the sights and celebrations of Accepted Student Day. Rolling out a figurative “Wildcat blue carpet welcome,” faculty and staff greeted and guided 477 accepted students and their eager supporters.

Making connections on campus, in the community and with self care was the focus of the third annual Wildcat Wellness Fair. Held recently on a rainy April day, the popular event provided a refuge in the Bush Campus Center for weather-weary, kindred-craving Penn College students and employees.
