David Kay has been named vice president for college services at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Kay, who had been assistant vice president for human resources, began his new duties at the college on Sept. 1.

Eugene M. McAvoy has been named dean of academic services and first year programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology. McAvoy, who had served as assistant dean of integrated studies-programs for a year, will be succeeded in that position by Joanna K. Pruden.

As always, it is difficult to imagine that the summer has concluded and we once again gather to launch a new academic year.

The One College Club, a benefit to Pennsylvania College of Technology employees, alumni and retirees, opens Aug. 17 in Le Jeune Chef Restaurant. The club, in a dedicated area at the rear of the restaurant, will feature relaxed dining with its own "gastro-pub" menu, as well as a buffet.

In the space of four weeks early this summer, Paul A. "Babe" Mayer, associate professor of fitness and lifetime sports at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was the go-to speaker for four organizations. Well-known for his motivational skills, Mayer was selected as keynote speaker at the Loyalsock Township High School Girls Basketball Awards Banquet.
