A member of the sociology faculty at Pennsylvania College of Technology was published recently in Sociological Viewpoints, the journal of the Pennsylvania Sociological Society. Vinay Bahl, associate professor of sociology, wrote a review of the book "Hate Crimes and Ethnoviolence: The History, Current Affairs, and Future of Discrimination in America" by Howard J. Ehrlich.

On this Veterans Day, PCToday honors the Pennsylvania College of Technology students and employees who have served (or continue to serve) in the United States military. Brian M. McKeon, department head for natural sciences in Penn College's School of Integrated Studies, performs the role of "Phil/Gator Man" in "Duck Hunter Shoots Angel," which begins a two-week run Friday at the Community Theatre League, 100 W. Third St. In the comedy, written by Mitch Albom of "Tuesdays With Morrie" fame, two bumbling Alabama duck hunters think they've shot down an angel.

Twenty-four students and three chaperones from Berks Career and Technology Center visited Pennsylvania College of Technology on Wednesday, getting tailor-made exposure to the hands-on core of the institution's reputation. The personalized instruction came courtesy of Bahram Golshan, an associate professor of computer science, and had its roots in a request to Penn College's Admissions Office.

The service will be Friday morning for Gideon J. Wray, an assistant professor of business administration/accounting in Penn College's School of Business and Computer Technologies, who died Thursday, Oct. 28.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's website was honored for the second time this fall with a major industry award. This time, the recognition came from the International Academy of Visual Arts, which selected the college's website as a Silver Award winner in the School/University category of its W3 Awards competition.

A poster designed in-house for a 2009 faculty lecture at Pennsylvania College of Technology was awarded first prize by the National Association for Campus Activities at its recent regional convention in Lancaster. The winning artwork for last year's lecture in the David London My Last Words series was created by Jennifer A.

Keeping his audience spellbound with a stunningly creative blend of storytelling, wit, stage presence and music not to mention an effective use of props David S. Sims shared a hypothetically valedictory message as this year's speaker in The David London My Last Words lecture series.
