Thirteen students of Karen R. Ruhl, horticulture instructor and last year's recipient of a Part-Time Teaching Excellence Award, recently completed their final projects at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center – all in one day of real-time accomplishment – and displayed them at The Madigan Library. On May 1, 80 Girl Scouts and community members helped to plant 400 trees and shrubs of 12 species on the grounds of Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Schneebeli Earth Science Center near Allenwood. The event was part of the college’s Arbor Day celebration and the Girl Scouts’ Tree Promise. For Earth Day 2022, Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania is planting 2,022 trees.

Family, friends and faculty poured into The Gallery at Penn College late Friday afternoon to view the design work of 11 graphic design seniors. Bryan Marcel Bilbao, a graduate student in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s physician assistant studies major, was recently selected as a director for Physician Assistant Students for Leadership, Equity, Anti-Racism and Diversity. The national organization, known by its initials, PA-S LEAD, began as a group of PA students of color and their allies.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s commitment to hands-on education aided area nonprofit organizations throughout the spring semester. Two sections of electrical construction students contributed nearly 400 hours of work, saving the YWCA, Sojourner Truth Ministries and the Avis Area Recreation Association labor expenses in completing a variety of projects.
