An assistant professor of environmental technology at Pennsylvania College of Technology presented two workshops at the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Educators, held March 19-21 at the Raystown Lake Resort and Conference Center. Debra A.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has scheduled an April 14 reception to honor current and former students, alumni, faculty and staff serving in the armed forces. During the event, which will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Penn College inducted its fourth group of Awesome Women Exemplars this week, honoring employees and students for their inspirational presence on campus. In accordance with this year's theme, "Women Taking the Lead in Saving the World," all students, faculty and staff were encouraged to nominate any Penn College female they admire.

A feature article in Pennsylvania College of Technology's magazine, One College Avenue, has been honored with a 2009 Bronze "CUPPIE" Award in the annual competition sponsored by CUPRAPThe Association of Communicators in Education. "Hearing the Voice Within," a Spring 2008 cover story by Tom Wilson, writer/editor-PCToday, was recognized in the PR/Media-Feature Article category.

Jeremiah C. Gee, assessment coordinator for Pennsylvania College of Technology's School of Integrated Studies, recently offered a presentation at the Network for Academic Renewal Conference hosted by the Association of American Colleges and Universities in Baltimore. The conference focused on general education and was attended by leaders in higher education from across the nation.

Three students Ann Marie Prosser, of Elizabethtown; Lauren Whitcraft, of Mountville; and Nadena M. Nykaza, of Jermyn and one faculty member, Rhonda J. Seebold, spent a week (Feb. 20-27) in Managua, Nicaragua, working with students and parents of La Escuelita to educate them on proper dental hygiene and to perform basic dental care.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper to fellow college and university economics professors on using current economic events in the classroom.

Carl L. Shaner, Student Health Center director at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been selected as a program-proposal reviewer for the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association CHOICES alcohol education grant.
