Two administrators in Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology have been appointed to assistant vice president positions. Larry L. Michael was named assistant vice president for workforce development and special projects. Tracy L. Brundage was appointed assistant vice president for workforce and economic development.

A Multicultural Student Mixer was held Wednesday in the Thompson Professional Development Center, an opportunity for Penn College employees and students to mingle with individuals from different backgrounds and diverse experiences.

PCToday continues its regular feature: welcoming new full-time and regular part-time Pennsylvania College of Technology employees, as reported by the Human Resources Office. Faculty/staff dog owners brought their pets to Rose Street Commons from 5-7 Tuesday night for the second annual "Hot Dog, You're Here!" program. Three groups of faculty/staff volunteers conducted a "Walk Around" of off-campus neighborhoods surrounding Penn College on Tuesday evening introducing themselves to tenants, welcoming new and returning students to the fall semester, distributing information about apartment living and an upcoming Block Party, and answering any questions.

Penn College's energetic entourage of Resident Assistants, joined by Residence Life staff, paused (briefly) in their busy pre-semester schedule for photos outside Madigan Library on Thursday. Before assuming their 2011-12 responsibilities in Penn College's on-campus housing, the RAs will be among the friendly ambassadors greeting new students and their families during Welcome Weekend move-in.

(The following is drawn from remarks by Davie Jane Gilmour, Pennsylvania College of Technology president, during an Aug. 11 all-college meeting to open the Fall 2011 semester.) Good morning and welcome to the Fall 2011 semester. While I likely say it every year, this summer has flown by faster than many I recall. That could be my recollection or, in fact, reality.

The School of Health Sciences at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently appointed directors for its surgical technology and physician assistant programs. Scott A. Geist was named director of the surgical technology program. He comes to Penn College with more than 20 years of surgical technology experience.

Drop/Add and Late Registration were held Monday in the Student and Administrative Services Center, where administrators, faculty and staff from Penn College's eight academic schools joined by co-workers from the Registrar's and Admissions offices, Information Technology Services and others guided students through online schedule changes for next week's start of Fall 2011 semester classes.

Among the latest additions to the Pennsylvania College of Technology community are these full-time faculty members for the Fall 2011 semester, as provided by the Human Resources Office (all effective Aug.
