Despite the uncooperative weather conditions at the start of the semester, heavy construction equipment technology students were not hampered by rain. Students have been able to continue to maintain and improve their operating skill sets with the use of a second-generation Caterpillar Track-Type Tractor Simulator.

Winners have been chosen inStudent Activities'annual Homecoming door-decorating contest, which once again showcased the spirit embodiedin Penn College's academic schools, departments and offices. With the "Were You There?" theme, almost all of the seven entries did some sort of photo montage usually connected to their specific area.

Scott D. Neuhard, assistant professor of electronics, will have a biography published in the book's seventh edition.

The director of the dental hygiene program at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently began his tenure on the Northcentral Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center Board of Directors. Shawn A. Kiser was appointed to a three-year term on the board, during which he will also serve on the center's personnel committee.

An assistant professor in Penn College's physician assistant program observed a somber anniversary with "In remembrance of Ground Hero: Ten years after 9-11," published this week by the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

The organization representing full-time faculty, librarians and counselors at Pennsylvania College of Technology is further supporting students at the college by establishing an endowed scholarship fund. The Penn College Education Association Scholarship Fund will generate at least two awards each year, one each for a male student and a female student.

Penn College aviation students Alper B. Tan, Marc T. Kaylor, Jacob R. Tuck, Richard M. "Matt" Hause and Daniel A. Starr along with co-department head Thomas D. Inman provided ground support for air-show aircraft at last weekend's Lycoming County Rotary Clubs Festival 2011. The college was a "co-pilot sponsor" for the event, held at the Lycoming County Fairgrounds in Hughesville.

Pennsylvania College of Technology's paramedic program director, Mark A. Trueman, was named the recipient of the 2011 Emergency Medical Services Educator Award by the Pennsylvania State EMS Awards Selection Committee.
