On May 10, during National Nurses Week, Pennsylvania College of Technology dedicated its Nursing Education Center. The Nursing Education Center occupies the first floor of the Breuder Advanced Technology and Health Science Center’s west wing. The facility contains 10 dedicated classrooms and seven learning labs serving more than 350 students enrolled in nursing majors at the college.

Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s diesel equipment majors now have newer equipment on which to hone their craft, thanks to a graduate’s ongoing involvement with his alma mater. The donation of a 2006 Volvo truck was facilitated by Greg A. Moser, an alumnus of Penn College’s former diesel technology: Mack emphasis major.

Sparks of imagination from Pennsylvania College of Technology welding students have produced unique décor for one of the main eateries on campus. A dedicated group of 10 students and one faculty member created original artwork for the college’s Keystone Dining Room.

A new video, in which Presidential Student Ambassador Emily K. Lutz chats with Chef Frank Suchwala about "Technology in the Kitchen," has been added to the Penn College YouTube channel. The clip gives viewers a taste of "fruit-juice caviar" and other scientific food preparation in the School of Business & Hospitality and at the recent USA Science and Engineering Festival in Washington, D.C.

A recent retiree from Pennsylvania College of Technology’s faculty has been honored with an award named for the first aviation mechanic in powered flight. On May 6 at the college’s Lumley Aviation Center in Montoursville, the Federal Aviation Administration presented the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award to James E. Doebler. The award – named for the Wright Brothers’ mechanic – is earned by airmen who have exhibited professionalism, skill and expertise for at least 50 years in the profession.

A "Your Class in 60 Seconds" video added to the Penn College YouTube channel visits the Fundamentals of Nursing simulation lab, where high-fidelity patient simulators and skilled faculty converge on students' path to a bachelor's degree. "Our simulation experiences bridge the gap between understanding lecture content and on-site patient clinicals," says Terri A.

Penn College’s hospitality department hosted its annual Culinary and Pastry Experience on April 29, showing off the work of students in five classes: Advanced Baking Applications for Culinary Arts, Cakes and Decorations, Classical and Specialty Dessert Presentation, Culinary Competition and Skills Assessment, and Principles of Chocolate Works.
