With the holidays approaching and the semester coming to a close, the campus community is reminded to get rid of old and unused prescriptions and medications when they "clean up and clean out." Faculty, staff and students can dispose of outdated or unneeded pharmaceuticals year-round at Penn College Health Services (Bush Campus Center, Room 105) from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology nursing student was granted a scholarship to attend the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Association of PeriAnesthesia Nurses. Janessa L. Kosmer, of Coal Township, was awarded the association’s Student Nurse Scholarship to PeriAnesthesia PRIDE, an event held near Pittsburgh in early October.

In an act of welcoming, Pennsylvania College of Technology recently dedicated a display of international flags that represent the home countries of its students. Hung in the Bush Campus Center, the flags will change as the student population changes. The initial display includes the flags of 10 nations: Austria, Canada, Germany, Ghana, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, Venezuela, Iran and South Korea.

November starts the season of thanksgiving, and Pennsylvania College of Technology students across campus recently shared their appreciation for those who make it possible for them to earn "degrees that work." Student development assistants delivered greetings to employee donors who celebrated birthdays during the month.

Holiday cards created by student organizations and campus offices, sharing their seasonal sentiments with the Penn College community in a variety of creative and thematic ways, were installed Tuesday on the Breuder Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center lawn. The 39 cards will be lighted − and winners announced in both categories − at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29.

Paul R. Watson II, dean of academic services and college transitions at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has been named to the board of directors of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships. Watson will chair the Governmental Relations Committee for the board.

Manufacturing students at Pennsylvania College of Technology are the beneficiaries of a recent equipment donation from the owners of a company with strong ties to the institution. Richard and Marion Leonhard, part owners of Southwestern Industries, donated two computer-numerical-control milling machines for the college’s automated manufacturing lab.
