Dream Week, in which Penn College and its community collaborators practice the teachings of Martin Luther King Jr., featured a number of events designed to effect positive change on campus and beyond.

Network affiliates covered the local Martin Luther King Jr. observance, which included a Penn College-hosted Peace Walk and rally, as well as service projects at local nonprofits. The reports, prepared by Newswatch 16's Kristina Papa and Eyewitness News' Morgan Parrish, aired at various times on Monday, calling attention to the civic spirit of the campus community.

The first floor of Madigan Library is overflowing with imaginative creations by Pennsylvania College of Technology students: “Old Books/New Lives: The Art of Upcycling,” an exhibit of “novel” artwork, is on display through Feb. 28. The library and The Gallery at Penn College invited students, faculty and staff to upcycle a selection of old books into creative art objects.

A fast-paced, 30-second commercial answers that question, and invites prospective and current students to unleash the possibilities – as well as themselves – at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The real-life inspiration for the popular Disney movie “Remember the Titans” will be the featured speaker for this year's observance of the Rev. Martin Luther King's contributions. Herman Boone, the motivational football coach portrayed on screen by Denzel Washington, will address this year's theme – “Community Unity: Moving Forward Together” –  in a free, public appearance at 7 p.m.

Larry B. Leavitt A memorial service will be Saturday for Larry B. Leavitt, an associate professor of automotive technology, who died Thursday, Jan. 4, at the age of 71. A member of the Penn College faculty since 1997, Leavitt was also an adviser to the college's SkillsUSA students. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. at Spitler's, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Visually stunning reinventions of the printed page will fill the Madigan Library at Pennsylvania College of Technology in two exhibitions in January and February.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Physician Assistant Program has been named the recipient of the college’s 2017 President’s Award for Outstanding Assessment of Student Learning. Employees of the program received the honor Jan. 5 at the all-college meeting that opened the Spring 2018 semester.
