Volunteer dentists, dental hygienists and Pennsylvania College of Technology's dental hygiene students will offer free oral screenings, sealants and education for children ages 7 to 15 on Feb. 4 as part of the Sealant Saturday program. The event is sponsored statewide by the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association and is hosted locally by Penn College in its dental hygiene clinic from 9 a.m.

Philadelphia area dental hygienists now have the opportunity to earn baccalaureate degrees to advance in their field thanks to a unique program using videoconferencing technology. The bachelor of science degree course work in dental hygiene will be delivered from Pennsylvania College of Technology, in Williamsport, to a classroom at Montgomery County Community College.

Thanks to an agreement between a private, liberal arts college and a public college of technology, advanced education in dental hygiene is now available in the Philadelphia area. Starting this fall, Pennsylvania College of Technology will offer its bachelor of science degree in dental hygiene at Harcum College, in Bryn Mawr.
