Pennsylvania College of Technology has been awarded a $570,422 federal grant for 2012-13 in support of a variety of academic programs. Funded by the U.S. Department of Education through the Pennsylvania Department of Education, the Perkins Local Plan Grant seeks to help develop the skills of secondary and postsecondary education students enrolled in career and technical-education programs.
Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Health Sciences hosted 36 high school students June 13-14 to help them learn about a variety of health careers. The Health Careers Camp, open to students entering grades nine to 12, offered hands-on workshops and the ability to network with Penn College students and faculty and working professionals in the health-care industry.

Volunteers from the dental profession convened in the Dental Hygiene Lab at Pennsylvania College of Technology on March 17 for the 10th Sealant Saturday community dental health event, for which they provided about $15,000 in free dental services to children between the ages of 7 and 15.

A dental hygiene student at Pennsylvania College of Technology was recently named the 2011-12 recipient of the Bailey/Hollister Scholarship from the Pennsylvania Dental Hygienists' Association. Amber L. March, a sophomore from Montoursville, received a $1,500 scholarship from the association. She is the only recipient from among 12 dental hygiene education programs in Pennsylvania.
Kathrine E. Dixon, a dental hygiene: health policy and administration concentration major from Houtzdale, has been chosen as the October "Student of the Month" by the Student Government Association at Pennsylvania College of Technology.
The director of the dental hygiene program at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently began his tenure on the Northcentral Pennsylvania Area Health Education Center Board of Directors. Shawn A. Kiser was appointed to a three-year term on the board, during which he will also serve on the center's personnel committee.
Robin J. Gordon, a Pennsylvania College of Technology student enrolled in the dental hygiene: health policy and administration major, was awarded a scholarship from the American Dental Hygienists' Association Institute for Oral Health. Gordon, of Duryea, was named a recipient of the Crest Oral-B Laboratories Dental Hygiene Scholarship for the 2011-12 academic year.
Pennsylvania College of Technology recently hosted its inaugural Nontraditional Employment Opportunities (NEO) Guys event, exposing male teenagers to job opportunities in all areas and encouraging career choice based on interests and individual strengths.
