Ellyn A. Lester, assistant dean of construction & architectural technologies, will be a panelist on WVIA-TV’s “Keystone Edition: Business” program. The episode, “Women Building the Future,” premieres Monday, March 10 at 7 p.m. on the PBS affiliate for Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania.

WNEP-TV reported on today’s Penn College Regional Anatomage Tournament, which brought 20 teams from 12 Pennsylvania high schools to campus to test their anatomy skills. The local ABC affiliate interviewed the college’s Elizabeth S. Gizenski, director of surgical technology, as well as an Anatomage representative and a student from Benton High School.

“Bringing Nature Back: One Yard at a Time!” is the title of a day-long workshop set for Saturday, March 15, in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Featuring talks by two Penn College employees, the event is presented by Penn State Extension Master Gardeners of Lycoming County in partnership with the Responsible Decarbonization Alliance.

Senior leadership from the staff of U.S. Sen. David H. McCormick (R-Pa.) visited Pennsylvania College of Technology on Tuesday, taking in the impressive labs and touring the college’s equally impressive Career Fair, attracting hundreds of employers eager to recruit the career-ready students.

Penn College’s baking & culinary program – under the lead of Chef Frank M. Suchwala, associate professor of hospitality management/culinary arts – prepared two of the five soups featured in the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank’s Ladles of Love fundraiser. Students in this semester’s Foundations of Professional Cooking class spent much of their Wednesday session making the soups: 10 gallons each of smoked tomato basil soup and wild mushroom bisque.

Timothy S. Turnbach identifies as a “thinker” and “an idea guy.” The Pennsylvania College of Technology welding instructor validated that self-assessment by conceiving and executing an artistic idea to benefit the Pennsylvania State Education Association. With the assistance of two students and a fellow instructor, Turnbach crafted the PSEA crest on 304 stainless steel.

The Community Arts Center has received a $3,000 donation from Jersey Shore State Bank, as part of the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program. The funds will be used to support the approved programming at the CAC.

Raising awareness and encouraging campus community members to register as organ donors is at the heart of the “Gift of Life College Challenge,” a project being pursued on the Penn College campus through April 28. Penn College nursing students, Wellness Committee and other partners kicked off the initiative by distributing small bags of Hershey’s Kisses and organ donor information

Penn College’s ninth Merit Badge College offered 20 different badges to 178 Scouts from six states: Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The recent Saturday event was hosted in partnership with the Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America.

The Pennsylvania House Republican Policy Committee met on campus Thursday in the Thompson Professional Development Center. In his welcoming remarks, Penn College President Michael J. Reed shared with the committee how the college’s graduates are helping industry thrive.
