A Pennsylvania College of Technology police officer, whose vigilant pursuit – even after being repeatedly fired upon – resulted in the quick apprehension of an armed suspect earlier this fall, was presented with a nationally sanctioned award during a surprise campus ceremony on Dec. 13. Nearly 300 students have petitioned to graduate following the Fall 2022 semester at Pennsylvania College of Technology. The college will hold a commencement ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Community Arts Center. The student speaker for the ceremony will be Maci Nicole Ilgen, of Spring Mills, who will be awarded a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

Eleven students and a recent alumna comprise the 2022 class of inductees to Pennsylvania College of Technology's chapter of SALUTE, a national veterans honor society. Formed in 2009 at Colorado State University, SALUTE is the first national academic honor society established for student veterans – and active military – at two- and four-year institutions of higher education.

Nearly 30 years ago, Eli M. Hughes was a disinterested high school student touring an electronics lab at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Today, he is a successful entrepreneur, powered by a passion sparked by his campus visit and subsequent education. The 2001 graduate is a self-described “full-stack problem-solver” with several electronics-rooted patents to his name.

Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Jennifer Berrier on Tuesday toured Indiana County's River Valley STEAM Academy, a workforce development education model that partners with Pennsylvania College of Technology, among others, to prepare students for in-demand careers, including cybersecurity, electrical occupations, and sports medicine and rehabilitative therapy.

For some travel experiences, the excitement ends when the travelers return home, but for a Pennsylvania College of Technology group, the benefits from a service-learning trip to Alaska are still being unpacked.

William A. "Bill" Kranz, a former faculty member and a Williamsport Area Community College alumnus, died Friday, Nov. 25, at UPMC Williamsport.

About 30 students from four area schools participated in Penn College's 2022 Horticulture Field Day on Friday, hosted at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center by the School of Engineering Technologies and its Diesel Technology & Natural Resources Division.
