A western Pennsylvania mining company has established a $1 million scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology to honor an alumnus employee who died July 31 while working in his beloved field of equipment repair. Amerikohl Mining Inc. and its owner and president, John Stilley, endowed the fund in memory of Steelyn G.
A scholarship has been established by Volkswagen of America Inc. and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive Youth Educational System in memory of a Pennsylvania College of Technology automotive technology alumnus. Zachary C. Teter, who graduated in August 2011 with an associate degree, was killed in a March 19 vehicle accident in Schuylkill County.

In 2012-13, Penn College and the Penn College Foundation received in-kind donations of equipment, technology, materials and supplies from business and industry for instructional purposes valued at $651,527 and cash donations totaling $969,708, for a total of $1,621,235. Donors included 758 alumni and 450 employees, who together contributed $381,582.
