Nick A. Hetrick A 2005 graduate in information technology: data communications and networking concentration will return to Penn College later this month to talk with students about their employment prospects in the field. Nick A. Hetrick, manager of IS security operations for WellSpan Health, will present, "Want to Know What It Takes to Be Successful in IT?" from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Pennsylvania College of Technology alumnus George E. Logue III  – a successful entrepreneur, award-winning chef, Army combat veteran, philanthropist and community volunteer  – was one of the honorees at Thursday’s 13th annual Education Celebration at The Genetti Hotel.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has appointed Tammy M. Rich as director of alumni relations. Rich, who had been employed as executive director of alumni relations and special events at Lock Haven University, began her duties at Penn College on March 3. “We are pleased to have Tammy join the Institutional Advancement team,” said Barry R. Stiger, vice president for institutional advancement.

Pennsylvania College of Technology’s career-awareness series, “degrees that work.tv,” has been honored again with a Telly Award. The latest episode focusing on management careers is a bronze winner for informational programming in the 35th annual international video competition.

A western Pennsylvania mining company has established a $1 million scholarship fund at Pennsylvania College of Technology to honor an alumnus employee who died July 31 while working in his beloved field of equipment repair. Amerikohl Mining Inc. and its owner and president, John Stilley, endowed the fund in memory of Steelyn G.

A scholarship has been established by Volkswagen of America Inc. and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation/Automotive Youth Educational System in memory of a Pennsylvania College of Technology automotive technology alumnus. Zachary C. Teter, who graduated in August 2011 with an associate degree, was killed in a March 19 vehicle accident in Schuylkill County.

The Gallery at Penn College has announced a call for entries for its “100 Works!” exhibition opening in October.

In 2012-13, Penn College and the Penn College Foundation received in-kind donations of equipment, technology, materials and supplies from business and industry for instructional purposes valued at $651,527 and cash donations totaling $969,708, for a total of $1,621,235. Donors included 758 alumni and 450 employees, who together contributed $381,582.
