Jordyn G. Nichols, a sophomore pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing, was featured in a Jan. 6 Williamsport Sun-Gazette story for the care she provided to a patient’s pup. When Chad Losell learned the arrangements he’d made for his dachshund to be cared for while he had heart surgery had fallen through, he considered postponing the life-saving procedure. “It obviously was causing tremendous stress on him, and I just wanted to take care of that completely,” Nichols told the Sun-Gazette’s Pat Crossley.

On Thursday, Coach Geoff B. Hensley and five members of the Penn College men's basketball team – Colby M. Bost III, David Brown, Cade E. Cavanaugh, Christian A. Chandler and Kris L Hayes – visited the Dunham Children's Learning Center and shared a story with each of its three preschool classrooms.
Six new full-time faculty members, including a transfer from part-time status, will begin teaching at Pennsylvania College of Technology with the Spring 2024 semester. "This spring, we welcome a diverse group of individuals, each bringing a variety of skills and experiences that will immediately enhance our students' learning," said Joanna K. Flynn, vice president for academic affairs and provost. "We are eager to see the valuable contributions they will make to the college community."
Pennsylvania College of Technology will share faculty expertise and its high-tech instructional facilities with regional Scouts BSA members during Merit Badge College, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 17. Scouts can select from 20 merit badges and earn up to three during the event, offered in partnership with the Susquehanna Council, Boy Scouts of America. The council represents Scouts in Clinton, Lycoming, Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties.
Penn College News has received word of the death of Sara F. Gifford, a part-time faculty member who taught English Composition to first-year students last semester. Gifford, who was a doctoral candidate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and served as assistant director of international student services at Gettysburg College, died at the scene of a Dec. 22 traffic accident on Route 15 in Adams County.
