The Penn College Wildcat makes a stop at the admissions office.

Rainy weather did not stop 1,267 visitors from attending Pennsylvania College of Technology’s first of two fall Open Houses.

There were 424 prospective students and 843 guests across the college’s three campuses for the Sept. 27 event, which boasted an overall show rate of 72%.

“Folks traveled from 12 different states to step foot on campus and see hands-on learning firsthand,” said Audriana M. Empet, executive director of admissions & secondary partnerships. “We were thrilled to show them what’s possible with a future made by hand.”

Sixty-eight students traveled from 11 states outside Pennsylvania, Empet added, with the largest groups of out-of-state guests hailing from New Jersey and Maryland.

Attendees could stop by an academic exploration fair; check out residence halls, the athletics department and the Fitness Center; and visit with various offices, including financial aid and admissions & secondary partnerships. Potential students could choose two guided academic tours. The most popular choices were electrical; heating, ventilation & air conditioning; radiography; building construction; and welding.

The next Open House is scheduled for Nov. 7.
