Local author reads at Children's Learning Center

Local author and farmer Courtney Smith, of Smith Farm & Fields in Trout Run, visited the Dunham Children’s Learning Center on Monday to read her book, “Miss Charlotte’s Adventure to Our Farm,” in the Bunnies classroom.

The visit coincided with a farm theme being celebrated by the class, which is led by teacher Stacie L. Smith and assistant teacher Madison P. Clark. In addition to reading her book, the author joined the children in an open-ended piggy craft.

“We are so grateful she could take some time out of her busy schedule to spend some time with us,” Stacey Smith said. “We are so lucky to be able to bring the outside world into the center for the children.”

The Children’s Learning Center serves Penn College students and employees whose children need high-quality, on-campus care and education while their parents work or attend classes. It is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
