College honors military service on Veterans Day

In honor of Veterans Day, Penn College News extends its thanks to all who have served or continue to serve in the U.S. military.

Across campus, 160 Penn College students and 53 employees are veterans or currently serving.

As the college commemorates Veterans Week, activities include:

  • Tuesday, 11 a.m.-noon: A veterans lunch in the Keystone Dining Room (Veterans should visit the Major General Fred F. Marty Veterans & Military Resource Center, Gilmour Center, Room 1033, for a voucher – good for a meal any time this week in Keystone Dining Room, Capitol Eatery or Nature’s Cove).
  • Tuesday, 6:30 p.m.: Movie night with a showing of “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi” Gilmour Center, Room 1049 (inside the Hudock Center for Academic Excellence)
  • Wednesday, 6 p.m.: Dodgeball tournament with the Black Student Union (Pre-register by emailing pctvets@pct.edu)
  • Thursday, 3 p.m.: “The Last Deployment,” a professional development session for faculty and staff
  • Thursday, 5 p.m.: Induction ceremony for SALUTE, a national veterans honor society
  • Friday: “Wear red day” to remember everyone who is deployed.

In addition, an “Our Veterans” project will be displayed on monitors throughout campus, and the college’s social media channels will share veterans’ stories.

Penn College’s commitment to its veteran population earned national recognition as the No. 1 school for veteran students in the Regional College (North) classification by U.S. News & World Report's 2026 Best Colleges rankings.
