Foundation Dinner & Auction raises over $170K for scholarships

The 15th Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Dinner & Auction raised a total of $171,990 for student scholarships at the college.

Held in Penn College’s Madigan Library, the event was sponsored by Lycoming Engines and featured a live auction of 25 donated items and services by Ron Roan of Roan Inc. Auctioneers & Appraisers, who donated his professional services for the evening. The event also included a silent auction of 28 items and services. 

Dinner was catered by Le Jeune Chef Restaurant, a live-learning lab for students in Penn College’s hospitality program. The event provided hands-on experience for students in the Beverage Management & Service Applications and Foundations of Service Applications for the Hospitality Industry classes. Students in the Grand Pastry Display course were responsible for the evening’s dessert and bread service, including menu writing, ingredient ordering, planning and production, and service at the tables.

Penn College President Michael J. Reed told attendees: “With over 4,700 degree-seeking students across campus, 2,000 dual-enrollment high school students and over 5,000 industry representatives receiving upskilling through Workforce Development, more individuals are experiencing the value of our life-changing, applied technology education. And more are starting to notice, as evidenced by our recent U.S. News & World Report rankings.

“We are positioned well thanks to our unique mission, talented team members and passionate partners like you,” Reed continued. “Scholarship funding remains our top priority to create greater access to a Penn College degree. Thank you for sharing the impact of our hands-on education with your personal and professional circles. Thank you for being here tonight to invest in tomorrow’s workforce. We are truly grateful.”

“We have the opportunity this evening to make a real impact on students’ ability to enroll, their ability to succeed academically, their ability to contribute to our workforce and our economy, and most importantly, their ability to provide for their families for decades to come,” said Christopher E. Keiser, chairperson of the Penn College Foundation Board of Directors and a 1995 graduate.
