Surgical technology alumni gather outside the Advanced Technology & Health Sciences Center during a May reunion.
Alumni from the surgical technology program recently returned to campus to reunite and reminisce.
"Penn College's surgical technology program has a proud history,” said Elizabeth S. Gizenski, the program’s director. “It was a pleasure to host our alumni and reconnect with them, hearing about the incredible journeys they’ve embarked on since graduation.”
Sixteen alumni, who graduated between 1987 and 2024, attended the reunion, which included a tour of the program’s labs.
The reunion followed a continuing education event, provided by the program for its preceptors. The college hosts the annual continuing education event to show appreciation to the dedicated professionals who lead Penn College surgical technology students at their clinical sites. Attendees include surgical technologists and surgical first assistants from area hospitals. They receive live continuing education credits, which are required to renew their certification.
Penn College offers an associate degree in surgical technology. To learn more, call 570-327-4519.
