Foundation Dinner & Auction raises over $140K for scholarships

The 14th Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Dinner & Auction raised a total of $141,000 for student scholarships at the college.

Held at Penn College’s Madigan Library, the event was sponsored by Lycoming Engines and featured a live auction of 25 donated items and services by Ron Roan of Roan Inc. Auctioneers & Appraisers, who donated his professional services, as well as a silent auction of 26 items and services.

Penn College President Michael J. Reed told attendees: “Alumni from Penn College and its predecessors now top 70,000, and over 80% of those graduates have stayed in Pennsylvania to build families, satisfying careers and a stronger commonwealth. Thanks to your advocacy and generosity, applied technology education is alive and well. Thank you for investing in tomorrow’s workforce and sharing the impact of our hands-on education with your personal and professional circles. We are truly grateful.”

“The success of this event is directly correlated to the long-standing commitment our community has to providing access for our students to a high-quality applied technology education,” added Kyle A. Smith, senior executive director of college relations. “From the first auction in 1994 to our auction this year, the donors of items, event and table sponsors, and item purchasers have provided more than $1 million in scholarship support to our students. Thank you on behalf of the college, the Foundation Board of Directors, and our students.”

The Pennsylvania College of Technology Foundation Inc. is a nonprofit, tax-exempt organization supporting the diverse academic programs of Penn College and providing financial assistance for student scholarships. Through the efforts of many volunteers and donors, the Foundation, in conjunction with Pennsylvania College of Technology, will make more than $1.5 million in scholarship awards to Penn College students this year.
