More than 100 people attended the Multicultural Society's third annual Gospel Concert on Saturday in the ACC Auditorium. The club is a student organization designed to promote diversity and cultural awareness on campus and in the community. Each year, the proceeds of the Gospel Concert are donated to a community organization with which club members volunteer their time helping children. This year, the club chose the After School Program at the Campbell Street Family & Youth Center. Melodie Russell, executive director of the center and a Penn College alumnus, spoke about the multiple projects geared toward "Community Learning in Kids." Performers at the concert were The Multicultural Society Choir, Christ Community Worship Center, Faith United Methodist Praise Band, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Campbell Street Family & Youth Center Step Dancers, Adam Walker (another alumnus), Center for Champions, Rain, Witness and Psalmist. Please contact the advisers,
Calvetta A. Walker or
Henriette K. Evans (who provided the photos), for additional information about the Multicultural Society. Membership always is open for students who would like to participate in diverse activities on campus and in the community.
