Disability and Access Resources is committed to ensuring that all information regarding a student is maintained as confidential as required or permitted by law. This information may include test data, grades, biological history, disability information, performance reviews, and case notes.

Guidelines for treatment of such information have been adopted by Disability and Access Resources. The guidelines incorporate relevant state and federal regulations and College policies:

  • Any information regarding a disability gained from medical examinations or appropriate post-admissions inquiry shall be considered confidential and shall be shared with others within the institution only when there is a legitimate need to know. Disability-related information is to be treated as medical information.
  • A student’s file may be released pursuant to a court order or subpoena.
  • A student may give written authorization for the release of information when he or she wishes to share it with others. Before giving such authorization, the student should understand the information being released and to whom the information is being released. Information will not be released without consent unless federal or state law requires it.

Disability and Access Resources will ask you to read and sign a Release of Information form. This release gives Disability and Access Resources permission, if necessary, to request any additional medical and/or psychological information pertaining to your current functional limitations for the purpose of determining eligibility and planning appropriate accommodations.
