During a busy week with three teams seeing action, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s basketball team came away with the lone victory. Fifteen Pennsylvania College of Technology students passed the Pennsylvania Pesticide Applicator Certification exam offered in late November. “This certification is something that employers look for, so these students are at an advantage when it comes to finding a job," said Carl J. Bower, a horticulture instructor in the college's School of Transportation & Natural Resources Technologies.
Michael J. Reed has been named dean of the School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Reed, who had served as interim dean for the school since July, has more than 20 years of leadership, teaching and counseling experience.
Emma J. Sutterlin, an applied health studies: occupational therapy assistant concentration major from State College, has been chosen as the December/January "Student of the Month" at Pennsylvania College of Technology. A Resident Assistant in on-campus housing and a “Link” in Penn College’s Connections orientation program, Sutterlin is a 2013 graduate of State College Area High School.
Students and teachers who connect learning with real work experiences will be featured in a new series premiering this month on public television. “Working Class” will encourage viewers to make an impact in the world by pursuing careers that reflect their personal talents and interests.
Joseph G. Sick A memorial service will be held Saturday for Joseph G. Sick, a longtime faculty member at both of Penn College’s predecessors (Williamsport Technical Institute and Williamsport Area Community College) and first director of the Earth Science Center. He retired as a professor emeritus in 1983 after 34 years' employment.
A Pennsylvania College of Technology student was named one of two recipients of the Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association’s Reba M. Sebelist Scholarship. The scholarship was awarded to Jeanette M. Yatsko, of Monroe Township, Luzerne County, who is pursuing an associate degree in occupational therapy assistant and a bachelor’s degree in applied health studies at Penn College.
