Students in Pennsylvania College of Technology’s surgical technology major joined hospitals and colleges throughout the country in celebrating National Surgical Technologists Week, Sept. 18-24. National Surgical Technologists Week is a promotional event by the Association of Surgical Technologists to celebrate those who work in the field.

Approximately 20 Pennsylvania College of Technology students in electrical-related majors recently sharpened their skills by competing in an IDEAL National Championship qualifying event on campus.

Nineteen students are serving as Presidential Student Ambassadors for the 2016-17 academic year at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Selected for their demonstration of leadership, involvement, academic achievement and campus pride, the student ambassadors promote Penn College to prospective and current students and their families, guests, alumni, business partners and friends of the college.

Sparked by the offensive play of junior Hailee Hartman, who had five goals, the Pennsylvania College of Technology women’s soccer team put together a 2-1 week and stayed unbeaten in North Eastern Athletic Conference action. At Alfred University in nonconference play on Wednesday, Alfred made a goal scored at 13:23 stand up for a 1-0 Penn College loss.

Blannie E. Bowen, vice provost for academic affairs at The Pennsylvania State University, has been appointed to the Pennsylvania College of Technology Board of Directors. Bowen, whose appointment was made by the Corporation for Penn State, succeeds the retiring John J. Cahir, board vice president, who served on the board for 20 years. Penn College is a special mission affiliate of Penn State.

A pair of multi-session leadership programs, to be offered this fall by Workforce Development & Continuing Education at Pennsylvania College of Technology, are designed to aid managers and supervisors.
