A state-sponsored initiative for students in technology-related majors the Pennsylvania New Economy Technology Scholarship Program is helping to fund educational expenses for nearly 50 students at Pennsylvania College of Technology.

While women comprise 46 percent of the nation's workforce, they hold just 18 percent of the lucrative science/technology jobs, according to the National Science and Technology Council.

Students from more than a dozen schools will test their mettle in a variety of events at the Mid-Atlantic Horticulture/Landscape Field Day, which Pennsylvania College of Technology will host on Saturday, April 7, at its Earth Science Center campus near Allenwood.

A team of five Pennsylvania College of Technology students from the College's School of Construction and Design Technologies finished third recently in a residential-construction competition organized by the National Association of Home Builders. The two-day event, which was held in Atlanta, featured competitions for students in secondary schools and two- and four-year college programs.

"Admissions Marketing Report," the national newspaper of admissions marketing, honored Penn College with two awards in the 16th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards competition.

Pennsylvania College of Technology was named "School of the Year" recently by the Central Atlantic Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls. Penn College prevailed over three other nominees − the University of Delaware, Kutztown University and LaSalle University − for the award.

Campus tours, helpful information sessions and a variety of fun activities await participants in the annual spring Open House event planned for Sunday, March 25, at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Demonstrations and displays will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and general-information sessions for future students will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
