The Pennsylvania College of Technology men's soccer team will host Penn State Hazleton at 6 p.m. Wednesday in an Eastern Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference/Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association semifinal match.
The Gallery at Penn College on the main campus of Pennsylvania College of Technology will host "LeftRight," a collection of artwork by Warren Linn, from Nov. 2-26. An opening reception will take place Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 3:30 to 6 p.m., with an artist's talk scheduled at 4 p.m. Both the opening and the talk are free and open to the public.
Penn College Police Officer William T. Chubb received several honors Thursday night ata banquet sponsored by local Post W of theTravelers Protective Association. The association awarded Chubb a "Special Recognition" plaque for his dedication and service to the community. Two students in Pennsylvania College of Technology's Floral Design/Interior Plantscape major took top honors at the Pennsylvania Floral Industry Association's Floral Expo on Oct. 17. Michael R. Merlino, Carlisle, placed first and Melissa A. Sitlinger, Herndon RR 1, placed second in the Student Design competition at the event, which was sponsored by PFIA and FTD.
It's never too early to begin exploring career possibilities for children, and parents of middle-school students will enjoy a unique opportunity when Pennsylvania College of Technology offers a "Parent Career Fair" on Oct. 21. The event, which will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
On the last day of the regular season Tuesday, the Penn College men's soccer team beat Harrisburg Area Community College while Northampton Community College beat Penn State Hazleton. That put Penn College into the playoff driver's seat as the top seed. The Wildcats will host fourth-seeded Harrisburg at 1 p.m.
A total of 178 pints of blood was donated at last week's Red Cross Bloodmobile, less than the 200-pint goal but still a good job by the Penn College community for a great cause. Sixty prospective donors were declared ineligible for a variety of reasons and were deferred to later visits; 38 of the donors were first-timers!
