On Thursday, 20 incoming Penn College students completed the five-week Summer PLUS 2007 program offered by Academic Support Services. In addition to taking a math, English or reading noncredit course, the students were involved in college-preparation activities such as Project Success, introduction-to-computers classes and library workshops.

Five Saudi Arabian students from Penn College's English as a Second Language class met children at the Children's Learning Center on Wednesday morning to practice pronunciation skills and experience interacting with American children. The students explored the children's classroom and had an opportunity for play with the youngsters. The ESL students also read books to the children.

Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty from the electronics and computer engineering technology department spent part of their summer updating their skills with colleagues from across the United States.

The Gallery at Penn College recently added more works of art to the current exhibit, "Where Science Meets Art." Over half of the art in the exhibit was sent from Europe by members of the Society for Art of Imagination. Unfortunately, some works did not arrive for the opening day of the exhibit; instead, they spent a few weeks in customs.

Four Pennsylvania College of Technology students are working this summer with Larson Design Group a Williamsport-based architecture, engineering and surveying firm where an aggressive internship program helps meet future recruitment needs and reverse the trend of local students moving outside the area after graduation.
