Pennsylvania College of Technology held its Summer Commencement on Saturday at the Community Arts Center in downtown Williamsport. Michael R. Harer, of Williamsport, who received an Associate of Applied Science degree in surgical technology, was the student speaker for the 11 a.m. ceremony. Pennsylvania College of Technology President Davie Jane Gilmour has been appointed vice chair of President’s Council for the North Eastern Athletic Conference. A dozen of Penn College’s athletic teams compete in the NEAC, and Gilmour’s work with the council has included service on its committees for strategic planning and sportsmanship.
Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Wildcat Athletics teams will compete as full members of NCAA Division III when students return this fall. The NCAA Division III Management Council notified Penn College on Thursday that it has successfully completed the provisional membership process.
The 2017-18 budget for Pennsylvania College of Technology includes the lowest percentage increase for tuition in the college’s history. For the third consecutive year, tuition will rise by the smallest percentage since the institution became an affiliate of Penn State in 1989. When fees are combined with tuition, the total increase is 1.68 percent – another record low for the college.
Six students will begin their education at Pennsylvania College of Technology this fall as recipients of President’s Scholarships. High school seniors are invited to apply for the $3,000 annual scholarship if they are enrolling full time at Penn College and have a high school GPA of 3.5 or higher.
Pennsylvania College of Technology held three commencement ceremonies at the Community Arts Center on May 12-13 for more than 900 students who fulfilled their degree requirements during the spring semester. The proceedings at 3 p.m. Friday featured students from the School of Industrial, Computing & Engineering Technologies and the School of Sciences, Humanities & Visual Communications.
