At the annual conference of the Pennsylvania Economic Association, Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, presented a paper regarding child labor.

Douglas M. Sherry, a part-time instructor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published reviews in a variety of scholarly journals. Sherry's book review of David Farber's "Taken Hostage: The Iran Hostage Crisis and America's First Encounter With Radical Islam" was published in the December 2007 issue of the Journal of American Culture.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper at the 30th annual meeting of the Northeastern Association of Business, Economics and Technology. The paper, "Use of Real World Events to Teach Principles of Economics," will be published in the conference proceedings. The event was held Oct. 25-26 in State College.

Vinay Bahl, associate professor of sociology at Pennsylvania College of Technology, contributed a chapter in the recently published book "The Cultures of Economic Migration: International Perspectives." The book, which was published in September by Ashgate Publishing, London, was edited by Suman Gupta and Tope Omoniyi.

William J. Astore, associate professor of history in the School of Integrated Studies at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently published an article in MHQ: The Quarterly Journal of Military History (Autumn 2007). Astore's article, "The Tragic Pursuit of Total Victory," examines the efforts of Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg and Gen.

A history book co-authored by a member of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Integrated Studies faculty was published this month by Greenwood Press. William J. Astore, associate professor of history, co-wrote "Soldiers' Lives Through History: The Early Modern World" with Dennis E. Showalter, professor of history at Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Abdul B. Pathan, professor of economics at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently presented a paper at the 18th annual conference on "Teaching Economics, Instruction and Classroom Based Research." Pathan presented his paper, "Make Economics Interesting to Students by Using Real-Life Examples," to about 75 participants, all faculty members from colleges and universities around the country.

The Pennsylvania Economic Association has chosen Pennsylvania College of Technology as the site of its 2007 annual conference, to be held from May 31 to June 2 at the college's main campus in Williamsport. "At last November's PEA board meeting, I volunteered our campus," said Gerald D.
