Each November brings another opportunity for Penn College students to "Give Thanks" – a peer-to-peer initiative to express gratitude for those who invest in their success – and 2021 is no exception. The national recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and its Week of Action (Oct. 18-24) was honored on the Pennsylvania College of Technology campus with a Purple Thursday candlelight vigil at the front of Klump Academic Center.

Campuswide ingenuity and the generosity of a longtime supporter have produced the Fish Real Estate Leadership Challenge Course at Penn College. Architecture and concrete science students; General Services personnel; and Rob Cooley, associate professor of anthropology/environmental science, played vital roles in developing and building the course.

The Fish Real Estate Leadership Challenge Course, the creation of which involved the same collaborative spirit that it will nurture in those who use it, was dedicated Aug. 11 on the wooded southcentral side of Pennsylvania College of Technology. LaQuinn N. Thompson, a 2016 alumnus of Pennsylvania College of Technology, was honored with an Alumni Achievement Award at the college’s Summer 2021 Commencement ceremony at the Community Arts Center. The Alumni Achievement Award is presented to a graduate of the past 10 years in recognition of noteworthy career accomplishments that demonstrate the importance of a Penn College education.

An article in the July/August issue of Pennsylvania Angler & Boater features a field trip taken by Rob Cooley's Outdoor Recreation as a Therapeutic Tool course during the spring semester. The class traveled to nearby Rose Valley Lake, accompanied by Lycoming College's director of outdoor learning and education, for an enjoyable and insightful day of kayaking.

Two Pennsylvania College of Technology students and their professor recently shared their expertise as part of Pennsylvania Prevention Week 2021, which encourages citizens across the commonwealth to recognize the importance of substance abuse prevention as a priority for public health.
