Human services students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will present an Assistive Technology Expo on May 2 in the college's Field House. The expo, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature a broad range of services and equipment to assist individuals with disabilities. The displays will focus on mobility, recreation, communication, tracking systems, home accessibility and education.

A recent fundraiser by Pennsylvania College of Technology students generated nearly $3,300 for some of the world's working poor. The funds were raised by students pursuing bachelor's degrees in applied human services who hosted a sale of fair-trade handmade crafts on campus in November, through an organization called Ten Thousand Villages.

Students pursuing bachelor's degrees in applied human services at Pennsylvania College of Technology will try to help effect positive change for working poor around the world by hosting a sale of fair-trade handmade crafts on campus Nov. 15-16.

Pennsylvania College of Technology was host recently to the annual convention for the Middle Atlantic Conference of Human Services, organized by members of the college's human services faculty. The event carried the theme "EmPOWerment: People, Opportunities and Well-Being." It featured a keynote address by Monte Meier, a member of the U.S.

Human services students at Pennsylvania College of Technology will present an Assistive Technology Exposition on April 13 in the college's Field House. The expo, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., is being held in conjunction with the Mid-Atlantic Consortium for Human Services annual conference, to be hosted on campus April 13-15.

Degree programs in human services at Pennsylvania College of Technology recently earned accreditation from the Council for Standards in Human Service Education. The college's bachelor-degree major in applied human services and its associate-degree major in human services have been accredited by the council for the next five years.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member was one of the winners of a special judging for a Daily Point of Light Award presented during National Volunteer Week. LaRue R. Reese, of Wellsboro, an assistant professor of human services/social sciences, received the award for April 24.
