Pennsylvania College of Technology’s School of Nursing & Health Sciences Diversity Taskforce, in collaboration with Nate Woods Jr., special assistant to the president for inclusion transformation, recently hosted a “Lunch & Learn” to explore LGBTQ+ issues in health care.

The second annual Night of Empowerment drew an enthusiastic crowd of more than 150 community members to Pennsylvania College of Technology’s Klump Academic Center Auditorium. Hosted by the Williamsport Representation Council, the recent gathering offered opportunities for networking and inspiring discussions.

About 75 students and 15 employers attended a highly-successful Human Services & Restorative Justice Internship and Job Expo, held this past week at Pennsylvania College of Technology. "This expo was overwhelming in the best way!" enthused one student.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology initiative focused on strengthening education and employment outcomes for individuals returning to their communities after a period of incarceration has been awarded a highly competitive U.S. Department of Justice grant for $866,188.

Penn College comprised the largest showing at Sunday's Out of the Darkness Community Walk, helping to save lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Two teams – PCT Hope, organized by Mary R. Shuma Rudberg, director of counseling, and Katie L. Mackey, assistant director of disability and access resources; and the Wildcat men's basketball team – paid no heed to rain and joined other local residents in Montoursville's Indian Park.

Students are finishing the fifth week of classes already, and Career Services has marked each of those weeks on a calendar overflowing with networking opportunities for students and alumni. Activities from Sept. 10-14 included a daylong Human Services & Restorative Justice Expo on Tuesday and several more Recruitment Days, including an architecture-related one on Thursday.

As another testament to Penn College students' willingness to be of hands-on service to the community, nine members of the Human Services and Restorative Justice Club volunteered to help with Tuesday night's appearance of Kevin Hines at the Community Arts Center.

State Rep. Jamie L. Flick (R-83rd) hosted a legislative hearing, followed by a human services speaker series and expo, across three Penn College locations on Thursday.

"Frustrating." "Eye-opening." "Informative." Those were a few of the responses following a two-hour "reentry simulation" held Tuesday at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Attended by more than 50 criminal justice professionals, the interactive activity created a month in the life of individuals recently released from prison.
