Jane J. Benedict, associate professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, was recently appointed to a three-year term on the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission's evaluation review panel. She will serve on the associate-degree evaluation review panel from Jan. 1, 2006, to Dec. 31, 2008. The NLNAC is recognized by the U.S.

Pennsylvania College of Technology has begun a nationwide search for a new vice president for academic affairs and provost − the chief academic officer at the institution. Veronica M. Muzic, who holds the position, is retiring after 37 years of service as an administrator and faculty member at Penn College and its immediate predecessor, Williamsport Area Community College.

Asesh K. Das, professor of computer science at Pennsylvania College of Technology, recently participated in the Ninth World Multiconference on Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics in Orlando, Fla. His paper, "Unstructured Document Management With a Possibility Theory of Ontology Capture," was named the best in its category at the July 10-13 conference.

A unique partnership formed in literally a few hours led to three flights between Montoursville and the Katrina-stricken Gulf Coast of Louisiana and Alabama, bringing relief in the form of urgently needed medicine and medical supplies. A total of $520,000 in supplies had been delivered as of Friday, with a fourth flight planned for later that day.

Mark A. Trueman has been named director of the paramedic program at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Trueman has been an instructor at Penn College since 2000. In addition to teaching in the college's School of Health Sciences, he is employed part time with Susquehanna Health System as a staff paramedic and is a volunteer member of the Trout Run Fire Co.

Karen J. Elias, a part-time instructor of English at Pennsylvania College of Technology, had an essay published recently in an anthology. The essay, "Mirror," appears in "Under Her Skin: How Girls Experience Race in America," a collection of works edited by Pooja Makhijani and published by Seal Press.

A Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member helped deliver $146,000 worth of sorely needed medicine and supplies to the hurricane-stricken Gulf Coast over the weekend. William P. "Scott" Welch, a diesel equipment technology instructor who routinely flies twice-weekly missions for His Wings Aviation Ministry, was part of a delivery to LSU Hospital in Baton Rouge , La.
