The Master Teacher Award, the highest level of recognition given to a Pennsylvania College of Technology faculty member, was presented Saturday to Jeffrey B. Weaver, assistant professor of electronics in the School of Industrial and Engineering Technologies at the college. Weaver received the award during commencement ceremonies at the Community Arts Center in Williamsport.

The Penn College student chapter of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers has taken first place in the IEEE Region 2 Web Site Contest. Region 2 is comprised of more than 60 student chapters in the states of Pennsylvania, Delaware, Ohio, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia, and Washington D.C. On April 13, about 30 electronics students were given valuable tips on how to make a good first impression when applying for a job by Tracy Rupert, human resources manager for The Drucker Company.

Douglas B. Martin, a student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has received the John A. Savoy Scholarship for Electronics Applications for the 2005-06 academic year. The scholarship is awarded each fall to a second-year student in an electronics major that emphasizes laser optics or fiber optics. The recipient is chosen based on scholastic achievement, dedication and leadership.

Pennsylvania College of Technology student Kathryn L. Hildenberger has been awarded the David Pickelner Memorial Scholarship for 2005-06. Hildenberger, of Kensington, Md., is a junior in the college's electronics engineering technology bachelor-degree major.

Michael R. Bloom, a sophomore electronics engineering technology student at Pennsylvania College of Technology, has earned the Central Keystone Section of the Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student entering his or her second year of study in electronics with an industrial process control emphasis.

Applied Controls Inc. presented a half-day workshop Friday in the College Avenue Labs for faculty and students in electronics and manufacturing majors, as well as for representatives of local manufacturing companies.

On Nov. 3, 12 Pennsylvania College of Technology Cisco Networking Academy students, along with their instructor, visited the corporate headquarters of PPL Telcom in Allentown. The group was hosted by Pam Barilli, marketing communications specialist.
