About 75 students and 15 employers attended a highly-successful Human Services & Restorative Justice Internship and Job Expo, held this past week at Pennsylvania College of Technology. "This expo was overwhelming in the best way!" enthused one student.
About two dozen employers made themselves available to job-seeking students in the semester's penultimate Recruitment Day, arranged by Career Services and held Tuesday in the Carl Building Technologies Center. Occupying perpendicular hallways of the BTC, recruiters shared their industry needs with tomorrow makers enrolled in electrical technology, electronics & computer engineering technology; engineering & industrial design technology, and information technology.
More than two dozen employers were at the Schneebeli Earth Science Center from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday for another in Career Services' series of program-specific Recruitment Days. As the morning chill burned off under welcome sunshine, the day heated up with productive dialogue about full-time, part-time and internship opportunities for students in diesel, heavy equipment and power generation majors.
Through 2032, an estimated 4.7 million jobs will be added to the U.S. economy. The recent Fall Career Fair at Pennsylvania College of Technology provided ample support for that Bureau of Labor Statistics’ projection. More than 450 companies, offering thousands of jobs and internships in an array of fields, met with 1,900 students throughout the two-day event, split between the college’s Bardo Gymnasium and Field House.
Students are finishing the fifth week of classes already, and Career Services has marked each of those weeks on a calendar overflowing with networking opportunities for students and alumni. Activities from Sept. 10-14 included a daylong Human Services & Restorative Justice Expo on Tuesday and several more Recruitment Days, including an architecture-related one on Thursday.
There was no shortage of networking opportunities during the holiday-curtailed week, as Career Services kicked off its September lineup of Recruitment Days. Among programs in the spotlight were automated manufacturing & machining, welding & metal fabrication, and nursing.
Well before the start of Fall 2023 classes, the Career Services staff was busily formulating a comprehensive lineup of major-specific networking opportunities for students and alumni. All of the semester's Recruitment Days – which will put job-seekers in touch with employers hoping to fill part-time, full-time and internship positions in a variety of fields – will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
