Tammy S. Clossen, assistant professor of dental hygiene at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored for the second consecutive year in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Clossen's biography will appear in the 10th edition of the book, to be published later this year. Clossen also appeared in the book's ninth edition, published in 2005.

"Green for the Mainstream," an overview of environmentally responsible building projects, will be presented March 28 at Pennsylvania College of Technology, Williamsport. The presentation, by Margo Thompson of the National Association of Home Builders Research Center, is free and open to the public. It will be offered at 3:30 p.m.

First-graders from Lyter Elementary School in Montoursville visited Penn College's graphic communications facilities this week, where, with the help of members of the Gamma Epsilon Tau graphic arts fraternity, they learned about how things are printed.

Penn College's Fitness Center has acquired a SCIFIT Upper Body Power Trainer, whichcombines electronic and mechanical technologies to provide physically challenged individuals with the benefits of physical exercise. The Upper Body Power Trainer is a stand-alone aerobic and arm-strengthening exerciser that can display the user's distance, time and calories.

Jane J. Benedict, associate professor of nursing at Pennsylvania College of Technology, will be honored in "Who's Who Among America's Teachers." Benedict's biography will appear in the 10th edition of the book, to be published later this year. Teachers who are honored in the book have been nominated by a former student.

James Riedel, an automotive management technology major from Quogue, N.Y., has been chosen byPennsylvania College of Technology'sStudent Government Association as "Student of the Month" for March.

A world-renowned cake decorator will sponsor the first "CalJava Wedding Cake Contest" at Pennsylvania College of Technology on May 1. Daniel Budiman, CEO of CalJava International the contest's sponsor and editor of Here Comes the Cake magazine, has earned fame for his unique wedding-cake designs.

The next session of "Project Choice," a free program at Pennsylvania College of Technology that provides assistance for adults considering a career change, will begin April 10. Offered by the Counseling, Career and Disability Services Office at Penn College, Project Choice provides comprehensive career exploration for anyone wishing to forge a new career path.

Four architectural technology majors are the winners of the 2006 "Strongest Bridge" contest: Corey N. Andreas, of Bloomsburg; Ryan L. Lewis, of Abbottstown; Matthew C.Toth, of Lancaster;and Henrik L. Berger, of RR 1, Huntingdon. Their bridge, made of construction paper and glue as outlined in the annual competition, weighed .35 of a pound and carried 136.2 pounds 389 times its weight!

Four Pennsylvania College of Technology students earned gold medals in this month's competition at the Pennsylvania SkillsUSA Conference in Lancaster, qualifying them for national competition in Kansas City, Mo., in June. Nine of 17 Penn College competitors brought home medals in the statewide competition, which was held March 13-15 at the Willow Valley Resort and Conference Center.
