Pennsylvania College of Technology is among 39 institutions receiving Honor Roll recognition in The Chronicle of Higher Education's survey of "Great Colleges to Work For." The Honor Roll lists the top 10 four-year colleges (and the top three community colleges) in each of the survey's size categories, based on the number of times they were recognized within individual categories.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is responding to the recent Marcellus Shale Industry Needs Assessment by offering a number of short- and long-term education opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing career opportunities that could be available as the oil and gas industry expands in the region.
Eugene M. McAvoy has been named assistant dean of integrated studies programs at Pennsylvania College of Technology. McAvoy has been an assistant professor of English composition at the college for six years. "I am grateful that Professor McAvoy has accepted this assignment," said Clifford P. Coppersmith, dean of the School of Integrated Studies.
When archery competition begins at the 2009 Summer World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport will have two faces in the crowd. Zachary Plannick, of Coraopolis, 20, who will be a junior in the fall, and Glen Thomas, of Mercer, 19, who will be a sophomore, are members of the United States archery squad.
The Gallery at Penn College, on the third floor of Pennsylvania College of Technology's Madigan Library, will host "Arrested Motion," an exhibit by clay artists Cheryl Tall and Ceil Sturdevant, July 9-Aug. 19. Life and motion are captured in the artists' figurative images.

Penn College recently hosted six students and a faculty member from the Institute of Technology Carlow in Ireland. The group took a three-credit class, specifically the Lycoming Engine Service School and Disassembly/Reassembly course taught by associate professor Jim E. Doebler. The students were accompanied by Paul Gibbons, who visited in February.
