Throughout the summer and fall, Pennsylvania College of Technology students under the direction of Seth J. Welshans, instructor of diesel equipment technology, have been moving tons of dirt at the college’s Heavy Construction Equipment Training Operations Site to prepare for Baja SAE Williamsport.

The international collegiate competition will be staged at the 174-acre site in Brady Township May 20-23. Baja SAE requires teams to design and build a single-seat, all-terrain vehicle to survive various performance tests. Over 100 teams have already registered for Baja SAE Williamsport.

WNEP-TV’s Mackenzie Aucker visited the training site for a story about the students’ effort in shaping parking lots and competition elements. She interviewed Welshans, Bradley M. Webb, dean of engineering technologies, and student Matthew K. Marino, of Lansdale. Her report for the ABC affiliate can be viewed on WNEP's website.
