The Dunham Children’s Learning Center at Penn College recently hosted state Rep. Jamie Flick and Tracy Weaver, outreach and communications coordinator for the Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children.

While discussing advocacy for childcare funding in Pennsylvania, Flick read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” by Eric Carle, to children in the Bees classroom, dot-painted a caterpillar and engaged in a song about the wiggly creatures. The theme is popular as the children wait for the center’s live caterpillars to emerge from their cocoons as butterflies.

Flick represents parts Lycoming and of Union counties and is a 1981 Penn College graduate with a degree in computer information systems.

The Pennsylvania Association for the Education of Young Children is an affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children, through which the Dunham Children’s Learning Center is accredited.
