Helen Yoas, who retired from Penn College last year, is set to compete on “Jeopardy!” on Thursday, May 7. For local cable subscribers, the show airs on WBRE at 7:30 p.m.
Yoas was the college’s metadata and discovery initiatives librarian and the librarian to diesel technology and natural resources.
She’s not allowed to discuss her “Jeopardy!” experience until after the show airs, but in the meantime, here are a few facts we can share about “America’s favorite quiz show”:
- More than 1.5 million adults, college students and teens have taken the online contestant test since “Jeopardy!” began offering it in 2006.
- The “Jeopardy!” production staff includes eight writers and nine researchers whose jobs are to create and assemble categories and questions for the series.
- “Jeopardy!” holds the Guinness World Record for the most Emmy Awards won by a TV game show (46 Emmys).
- The show is in its 42nd season in syndication and has a weekly audience of over 20 million viewers.
