Arts Center receives Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield grant

Monday, April 27, 2026

The Journey Bank Community Arts Center is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $2,500 grant from Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. These funds will be used to support the Arts Center's 2026-27 Educational Series.

"Highmark proudly supports the Community Arts Center's vital work. Its arts programming enriches thousands of northcentral Pennsylvania students annually, integrating theater arts with core subject areas like children's literature, American history, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) and literary theater. This impactful initiative aligns with our commitment to educational excellence and community well-being,” said Katie Kemmerer, community affairs regional manager, NEPA, for Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Annually, since 2007, the Educational Series has been offered for free to area students from nine school districts in two counties: Lycoming and Sullivan. The educational programs bring live performances and interactive learning opportunities to 5,000-8,000 students each year.

“Our educational, student-centered programs reach our youngest and most diverse population, and we are proud of that,” said Ana Gonzalez-White, director of development and community relations. “This donation plays a vital role in enriching their lives and allows us to continue to offer more vibrant programs.”

Funding for the educational programs is derived from various sources, including EITC funds, individual donations, corporate sponsorships and grants. For more information about giving opportunities, contact Gonzalez-White at 570-327-7657 or by email.
